Sign Language Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Georgia.

📋 Description

• Deliver remote sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational environments and related activities.

• Convert spoken English into sign language and vice versa in real time.

• Facilitate student comprehension of instructional material while preserving the integrity of teacher communications.

• Collaborate with educators, special education personnel, and relevant service providers to enhance student achievement.

• Assist with the execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as necessary.

• Uphold confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and district regulations.

• Modify interpreting techniques to cater to the unique communication needs of each student.

• Engage in meetings and training sessions as required.

• Carry out additional related responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is mandatory; an associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred.

• A valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Educational Interpreter License is required.

• Current RID certification or a qualifying EIPA score of 3.5 or above is essential.

• Understanding of Deaf culture and practices in educational interpreting is necessary.

• Experience in providing school-based sign language interpreting services is preferred.

• Familiarity with remote interpreting platforms and virtual classroom environments is advantageous.

• Capability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
