ServiceNow ITOM, CMDB Architect

📋 Description

• Define the comprehensive architecture and roadmap for ServiceNow ITOM and CMDB.

• Establish CMDB architecture in accordance with ServiceNow's CSDM principles.

• Specify CI classes, attributes, relationships, identification rules, reconciliation rules, and data stewardship.

• Create standards for CI lifecycle management, naming conventions, data quality, and governance.

• Design the integration architecture for CMDB across infrastructure, applications, cloud, network, security, and asset management platforms.

• Lead the implementation and enhancement of ServiceNow Discovery.

• Configure and troubleshoot Discovery schedules, credentials, MID Servers, probes, sensors, patterns, and discovery behavior.

• Develop Discovery strategies for servers, databases, network devices, cloud infrastructure, virtual environments, storage, applications, and containers/Kubernetes.

• Identify and address gaps in Discovery and rectify inaccurate CI population.

• Establish metrics for Discovery coverage and data quality.

• Design and implement ServiceNow Service Mapping.

• Construct application and business service maps, and set standards for mapping and service ownership.

• Configure and troubleshoot both horizontal and top-down discovery.

• Develop application dependency models that support Incident, Problem, Change, Impact Analysis, and AIOps use cases.

• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to validate service relationships.

• Create a sustainable governance model for CMDB, focusing on data ownership, accountability, data-quality KPIs, duplicate CI remediation, CMDB Health and Data Manager strategies, CI lifecycle processes, and governance for manual versus automated CI creation.

• Drive the adoption of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), define CSDM classes and relationships, and craft a roadmap for CSDM maturity.

• Ensure that the CMDB architecture is aligned with enterprise service management and future ServiceNow capabilities.

• Architect CMDB integrations with Azure/AWS, VMware, Active Directory, SCCM/MECM, Intune, ServiceNow Asset Management, monitoring, endpoint management, network management, security, and enterprise application repositories.

• Assess REST, IntegrationHub, MID Server, Import Sets, APIs, and Service Graph Connectors.

• Ensure that integrations comply with CMDB identification and reconciliation standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience, a master’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or 11 years of relevant experience without a degree.

• 7+ years of hands-on experience configuring Discovery and developing Service Maps within ITOM.

• 5+ years of practical experience in establishing foundational Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

• Proven experience in designing large-scale CMDB solutions.

• Strong understanding of IT Infrastructure and enterprise technology environments.

• Familiarity with cloud technologies, especially Azure and/or AWS.

• Solid grasp of ITIL and Configuration Management processes.

• Over 7 years of experience with the ServiceNow platform.

• Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification is required.

• Candidates must provide verification and documentation of the required ServiceNow certifications, licenses, or credentials.

• Must be accessible and available to perform job functions at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
