ServiceNow CMDB Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Configure, operate, and optimize ServiceNow Discovery, which includes MID Servers, discovery schedules, credentials, probes, sensors, and patterns.

• Develop and sustain application service maps that accurately represent actual service relationships.

• Diagnose discovery gaps and failures while enhancing coverage across both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

• Manage CI class structure, relationships, and attributes.

• Set up identification and reconciliation rules, normalization, and de-duplication processes.

• Create and oversee CMDB health dashboards to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.

• Lead efforts to resolve CMDB data-quality issues.

• Integrate hardware and software asset management with the CMDB.

• Assist in tracking asset lifecycles from procurement to disposal.

• Reconcile software licenses with discovered installation data.

• Design and maintain CMDB integrations utilizing IntegrationHub, Service Graph Connectors, and REST/SOAP web services.

• Ensure reliable data feeds from both cloud and on-premises inventory systems.

• Script transformations, business rules, and scheduled jobs.

• Collaborate with architects, developers, and federal stakeholders regarding CMDB design.

• Document class models, discovery configurations, integration designs, and data governance decisions.

• Provide occasional onsite support in Washington, DC for planning sessions, network-restricted tasks, and stakeholder engagement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of practical ServiceNow experience, including at least 2 years focused on CMDB, Discovery, or configuration management.

• Relevant experience in configuring and troubleshooting ServiceNow Discovery, encompassing MID Servers, credentials, schedules, and patterns.

• Familiarity with CMDB structure including CI classes, relationships, identification and reconciliation rules, and data normalization.

• Experience in building or maintaining integrations that contribute data to the CMDB using IntegrationHub, Service Graph Connectors, or REST/SOAP.

• Proficient in scripting within ServiceNow, including JavaScript, Glide APIs, business rules, script includes, and transform maps.

• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, such as servers, networking, virtualization, and cloud resources.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• U.S. citizenship required.

• Active Top Secret clearance, or an active Secret clearance with a willingness to be sponsored for TS.

• Availability for occasional onsite work in Washington, DC.

• Capacity to work East Coast business hours.

• ServiceNow certifications like CSA, CIS-Discovery, CIS-Service Mapping, CIS-Hardware or Software Asset Management, or CAD are considered bonus qualifications.

• Experience with aligning a CMDB to CSDM is a bonus qualification.

• Practical experience in hardware or software asset management is a bonus qualification.

• Familiarity with ITOM Health, cloud discovery, federal or defense programs, and ITIL/ITSM practices are additional bonus qualifications.
