ServiceNow CMDB Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Set up, operate, and optimize ServiceNow Discovery, which includes MID Servers, discovery schedules, credentials, probes, sensors, and patterns.

• Create and sustain application service maps that depict the relationships among configuration items.

• Identify and resolve discovery gaps and failures while enhancing coverage across both on-premises and cloud environments.

• Manage the CI class structure, including its relationships and attributes.

• Configure identification and reconciliation rules, as well as normalization and de-duplication processes.

• Develop and oversee CMDB health dashboards to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.

• Lead initiatives to rectify CMDB data quality concerns.

• Integrate hardware and software asset management systems with the CMDB.

• Facilitate asset lifecycle tracking from procurement to disposal, along with software license reconciliation.

• Design and maintain CMDB integrations utilizing IntegrationHub, Service Graph Connectors, and REST/SOAP web services.

• Script transformations, business rules, and scheduled jobs that ensure reliable data feeds.

• Collaborate with architects, developers, and federal stakeholders.

• Document class models, discovery configurations, integration designs, and data governance choices.

• Provide occasional onsite assistance in Washington, DC for planning sessions, restricted-network tasks, and stakeholder engagement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of direct ServiceNow experience, including at least 2 years focused on CMDB, Discovery, or configuration management.

• Hands-on experience in configuring and troubleshooting ServiceNow Discovery, covering MID Servers, credentials, schedules, and patterns.

• Familiarity with CMDB structure, including CI classes, relationships, identification and reconciliation rules, and data normalization practices.

• Proven experience in building or maintaining integrations that supply data to the CMDB using IntegrationHub, Service Graph Connectors, or REST/SOAP.

• Proficient scripting skills in ServiceNow, including JavaScript, Glide APIs, business rules, script includes, and transform maps.

• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, encompassing servers, networking, virtualization, and cloud resources.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Possession of an active Top Secret clearance, or an active Secret clearance with a willingness to be sponsored for Top Secret clearance.

• Availability for occasional onsite work in Washington, DC.

• Ability to work during East Coast business hours.

• ServiceNow certifications such as CSA, CIS-Discovery, CIS-Service Mapping, CIS-Hardware or Software Asset Management, or CAD are considered additional qualifications.

• Experience aligning a CMDB with CSDM, hardware or software asset management, ITOM Health, cloud discovery, federal or defense programs, and ITIL/ITSM are also viewed as additional qualifications.
