Service Engineer – Elevator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Panama.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Accountable for field service, maintenance, repairs, and inspection of marine elevator systems.

β€’ Conduct annual, periodic, and technical evaluations of marine elevators.

β€’ Execute planned, preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance tasks.

β€’ Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical, electrical, control, and PLC-related issues.

β€’ Perform repairs, adjustments, parts replacements, modernization projects, and significant repairs on elevator systems.

β€’ Undertake extensive field jobs such as replacing traveling cables, renewing wire ropes, making suspension-related repairs, and conducting necessary testing and inspections.

β€’ Remove and install cables, ensuring proper routing and securing, accurately terminating and connecting multiple cores, and completing electrical and operational tests.

β€’ Assist in wire rope renewal operations, including inspections, adjustments, load test preparations, and post-repair validations in accordance with relevant requirements.

β€’ Interpret and analyze wiring diagrams, technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and service documentation effectively.

β€’ Maintain detailed and accurate service reports, inspection findings, parts usage records, risk observations, and notes for customer communication.

β€’ Collaborate closely with Technical, Operations, Project Management, service partners, and vessel crews to facilitate effective job planning and execution.

β€’ Anticipate technical and operational risks and communicate realistic onsite durations, manpower requirements, and job limitations based on the actual scope and vessel conditions.

β€’ Adhere to company HSE standards and halt work when conditions are unsafe or when access, tools, manpower, or planning assumptions are unsuitable for safe execution.

β€’ Provide professional support to customers and vessel crews while ensuring service quality and compliance.

β€’ Carry out other job-related responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Diploma or degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Mechanical fields.

β€’ Professional or vocational certification in elevator engineering is a plus.

β€’ At least 10 years of experience in the elevator industry, encompassing service, troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections.

β€’ Proficient in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in additional regional languages is a benefit.

β€’ Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

β€’ Willingness to travel frequently for domestic and international vessel assignments.

β€’ Flexibility to work non-standard hours based on vessel schedules and port operations.

β€’ Medically fit for vessel attendance, offshore tasks, and physically demanding activities.

β€’ Able to work at heights, in confined machinery spaces, and in challenging port and onboard conditions.

β€’ Possess a valid passport and the ability to travel on short notice.

β€’ High proficiency in Google Workspace and modern productivity tools.

β€’ Valid Light Motor Vehicle driving license.

β€’ Legally authorized to work in Panama (Panamanian nationals or valid work/residence permit).
