Server, Cloud Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Provide daily support for the administration, patching, and upkeep of enterprise server and cloud infrastructure.

• Assist in the ongoing efforts for data center consolidation and cloud onboarding.

• Address incidents in accordance with ITIL-aligned processes.

• Conduct routine administration of Windows Server and Linux systems, which includes patch management, account management, and system health monitoring.

• Aid in the provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of AWS cloud resources such as EC2, EBS, VPC, and IAM.

• Support the provisioning of VMware virtual machines, including snapshots and resource allocation.

• Execute regular maintenance windows, which encompass OS patching, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediation.

• Handle Tier 1/2 incident tickets, perform initial triage, and escalate issues as necessary within ServiceNow.

• Assist in the management of Active Directory accounts and groups, DNS record maintenance, and access requests.

• Support data migration activities related to data center consolidation and cloud onboarding.

• Keep configuration item records and system documentation updated in the customer's CMDB.

• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support as required.


⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in administering Windows Server and/or Linux systems.

• Proficient understanding of core AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) or equivalent experience with other cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with VMware virtualization environments.

• Basic scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for routine automation tasks.

• Comprehension of ITSM ticketing and change management processes.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to adhere to established runbooks and procedures.

• Capability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

• Experience in a federal government IT environment.

• Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST.

• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.

• CompTIA Server+, Linux+, or Security+ certification.

• Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
