Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Establish and steer the technical vision along with a quarterly roadmap for infrastructure, incorporating clear trade-offs and measurable objectives.

• Manage and enhance AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) infrastructure, which includes cluster management, Karpenter autoscaling, Kyverno policy enforcement, and ensuring zero-downtime operations.

• Take full ownership of Infrastructure as Code from start to finish using Terraform and AWS CDK in TypeScript.

• Manage GitLab CI/CD, including the development of reusable/shared templates, OIDC, and self-managed GitLab.

• Create and maintain practical observability solutions utilizing Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch, CloudWatch, log pipelines, and APM.

• Ensure rapid blue-green deployments with health-gated automated rollback capabilities.

• Oversee zero-downtime PostgreSQL schema migrations and implement CI migration gating.

• Lead security engineering initiatives in a HIPAA-compliant environment, focusing on secrets hygiene, short-lived credentials, leak scanning, PHI-aware log and data handling, and Vault managed as code.

• Collaborate directly with product teams to eliminate infrastructure hurdles and enhance the developer experience.

• Integrate agentic AI as a fundamental aspect of workflows and incorporate autonomous-agent outputs into production.

• Define technical direction, actively participate in hands-on tasks, and take ownership of reliability, costs, security, performance, deployment health, and developer velocity outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years in DevOps or infrastructure engineering.

• Strong foundational knowledge of systems and proficient Linux administration and troubleshooting, including performance analysis, resource management, and process debugging.

• Practical experience with AWS services including EC2, EKS, RDS, ElastiCache, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, API Gateway, ALB, and S3.

• Experience managing production Kubernetes/EKS environments, focusing on cluster management, node scaling, and policy enforcement; familiarity with Karpenter, Kyverno, or similar tools.

• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically using Terraform and AWS CDK in TypeScript.

• Proven ownership of CI/CD processes with GitLab CI/CD, including reusable/shared templates, OIDC id_tokens, and self-managed GitLab.

• Hands-on experience in monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch, CloudWatch, log shipping, and APM/error tracking.

• Practical experience in security engineering, focusing on secrets rotation, short-lived credentials, leak scanning, and PHI-aware logging.

• Experience managing HashiCorp Vault as code, including KV, JWT/OIDC authentication for CI, and policy design.

• Familiarity with blue-green deployments and automated, health-gated rollback processes.

• Experience with PostgreSQL zero-downtime schema migrations utilizing expand/contract and migration gating in CI.

• Proficiency with Docker, ECR, immutable tags, and image lifecycle management.

• Knowledge of network/protocol fundamentals, including load balancing, TLS, and DNS.

• Hands-on experience with agentic AI workflows, such as Claude Code or similar, including delegating tasks to autonomous agents and integrating their outputs into production.

• Developer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills for complex system issues and excellent technical writing abilities using docs-as-code, ADRs, and design documents via MRs.

• Proficiency in Russian and English (B1 level).

• Effective experience working in remote, distributed teams.

• Preferred qualifications include experience in HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar regulated environments; familiarity with Ansible; operations of Node.js applications; proficiency in GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux; deeper PostgreSQL administration; and AWS certifications.
