DevOps Engineer – Freelance/Contract, Mid-Level/Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, automate, and oversee CI/CD pipelines.

• Create and sustain resilient infrastructure across cloud, on-premises, and isolated (air-gapped) environments.

• Collaborate on high-availability architectures under demanding network conditions, including high latency and satellite communications.

• Implement orchestration on edge nodes while complying with stringent security standards.

• Architect offline-first solutions for scenarios with intermittent connectivity.

• Engage directly with the end client’s IT department.

• Take part in on-call rotations and manage incident responses.

• Produce runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing container and cloud platforms in production settings.

• Advanced expertise with Kubernetes (both cloud and edge nodes), Helm or Kustomize, and GitOps practices.

• Skilled in Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi within cloud or on-premises environments.

• Experience in automating deployments and releases across various environments, including air-gapped scenarios.

• Practical, verifiable application of artificial intelligence tools in infrastructure and operations.

• Strong understanding of IP, VLANs, routing, NAT, DNS, NTP, and firewall configurations.

• Familiarity with satellite links or high-latency WAN networks.

• Experience in designing offline-first systems, managing local storage, and resolving data conflicts.

• Proficient with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, Elastic/OpenSearch, and Loki.

• Operational experience with Kafka, focusing on broker resilience, data retention, and consumer behavior.

• Knowledge of mTLS, certificate lifecycle management, secrets management, and container image signing.

• Experience with or knowledge of PCI DSS and GDPR regulations.

• Involvement in on-call rotations, incident response, and runbook development.

• Excellent communication abilities for direct engagement with client technical teams.

• Proactive mindset and strong problem-solving capabilities in complex networking and edge computing environments.

• University degree.

• Advanced/fluent English proficiency (required).

• Valid visa for travel to the United States.
