This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +5 more countries.
• Take charge of gameplay animation features from initial concept to final execution, which includes gathering references, prototyping, asset creation, integrating into the engine, debugging, and refining.
• Develop character movement and action animations for locomotion, directional shifts, stance transitions, traversal, and combat interactions.
• Contribute to first-person animations, full-body movements, weapon handling, and camera feedback.
• Collaborate with designers and programmers to enhance movement responsiveness, action timing, transitions, interruption behaviors, weight, and physicality.
• Construct and enhance animation graphs, state machines, blend setups, and animation layers within the project engine and tools.
• Utilize keyframe animation and motion-capture workflows.
• Assess work in playable builds, diagnose animation issues, and work collaboratively across disciplines to address them.
• Streamline workflows and tackle runtime, asset, and production limitations alongside technical animation and engineering teams.
• At the Lead level, oversee feature planning, set quality standards, provide constructive feedback, mentor colleagues, and create and implement animations directly.
• Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing gameplay animations for AAA first-person shooters, with evident ownership of features or animation systems.
• Strong portfolio showcasing body mechanics, weight, timing, posing, and responsive gameplay animation.
• Hands-on experience in transferring animation assets into a game engine and refining behaviors in playable builds.
• Familiarity with animation graphs, state machines, blending, additive animation, and gameplay-driven transitions.
• Comprehension of how character movement, player controls, and camera behaviors interact and shape the overall game experience.
• Proficient in professional animation tools, including keyframe animation and motion-capture editing.
• Capability to investigate animation challenges and collaborate with design and engineering partners to find solutions.
• Strong sense of ownership, effective communication, and reliable delivery within production deadlines.
• Recent experience in AAA FPS production, 3C animation systems, technical animation, or related action-game experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with inverse kinematics, motion matching, procedural animation, motion warping, animation retargeting, scripting, or tool development is a plus.
