Senior/Director, Medical Science

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and spearhead field-based medical engagement for the Portal program within EPP and XLP.

• Report directly to the CMO while managing direct reports.

• Lead and execute field-based medical and scientific interactions with designated healthcare professionals (HCPs).

• Provide precise, balanced, and compliant scientific communication regarding EPP/XLP disease states and program data.

• Establish priorities, mentor team members, and oversee daily field operations.

• Collaborate with leadership on Medical Affairs field initiatives and priorities.

• Implement the agreed-upon Medical Affairs field strategy and offer field insights for its enhancement.

• Assist in the cross-functional development of field/MSL presentations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and congress materials.

• Facilitate field engagement and logistics during medical congresses.

• Interact with designated HCPs on-site and coordinate the presence of the field team.

• Monitor and report field metrics and activities.

• Cultivate and sustain scientific and clinical knowledge in EPP/XLP, porphyrias, heme biosynthesis, and rare diseases.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced clinical or scientific degree is required: PharmD, PhD, or MD.

• Proven experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in field medical roles is essential.

• A demonstrated history of engaging with field-based healthcare professionals is required.

• Experience in rare diseases and/or EPP/XLP/porphyria is highly preferred.

• Experience in people management or team leadership is necessary.

• Capability to manage and nurture direct reports.

• Proficiency in translating strategy into field execution.

• Ability to align cross-functionally with business stakeholders.

• Strong understanding of clinical trial design and the interpretation of scientific data.

• Exceptional scientific communication skills.

• Familiarity with Medical Affairs compliance standards, including field versus KOL/site engagement and non-promotional guidelines.

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.

• Ability to work independently in the field with considerable travel required.

• Significant field travel of approximately 60–70% is expected.
