Associate Medical Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the main strategic advisor to the Chief Medical Officer.

• Coordinate priorities, initiatives, and organizational goals.

• Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of enterprise clinical excellence, quality improvement, and transformation projects.

• Organize critical issues, decisions, and executive communications.

• Provide governance support through materials, presentations, briefings, and follow-ups for executive committees, boards, and leadership teams.

• Monitor high-priority initiatives, identify risks and barriers, and escalate recommendations as needed.

• Convert clinical strategies, policies, standards, and quality requirements into actionable implementation plans, workflows, and operational playbooks.

• Drive enterprise-wide implementation and adoption of clinical excellence initiatives.

• Collaborate with operational leaders to integrate clinical priorities into business processes.

• Facilitate process improvements to enhance quality, patient outcomes, provider experience, operational efficiency, and business performance.

• Oversee readiness assessments, implementation planning, and execution monitoring.

• Act as a liaison among clinical leadership, operational teams, providers, and enterprise stakeholders.

• Lead stakeholder engagement, training, and change management strategies.

• Foster leadership alignment and promote cross-functional collaboration.

• Cultivate relationships with providers, industry partners, professional organizations, and internal stakeholders.

• Influence without direct authority and drive execution through partnership and subject matter expertise.

• Support executive dashboards, performance metrics, and reporting mechanisms.

• Conduct complex analyses and offer data-driven recommendations.

• Coordinate enterprise resources and stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.

• Anticipate organizational impacts and devise mitigation strategies for implementation risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) or a healthcare-related advanced degree is preferred; a combination of education and experience may also be considered.

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive functional experience in clinical operations, quality, healthcare transformation, business process optimization, or strategic program leadership.

• Experience collaborating with executive leadership teams and leading enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.

• Proven success in translating clinical or healthcare strategies into operational execution and measurable outcomes.

• Experience in driving change management, provider engagement, and organizational transformation initiatives.

• Exceptional skills in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and executive advisory roles.

• Strong knowledge of clinical operations, quality management, provider networks, and healthcare delivery models.

• Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives through influence and stakeholder alignment.

• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent skills in executive communication, facilitation, presentation, and relationship management.

• Expertise in change management, process improvement, workflow redesign, and implementation planning.

• Capability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.

• Ability to excel in ambiguous environments while balancing strategic priorities and operational execution.

• Strong business acumen connecting clinical, operational, financial, and organizational objectives.
