Senior WordPress Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, development, and upkeep of a delivery framework for transitioning websites to WordPress (Gutenberg).

• Participate in discussions regarding project scope with development teams, project managers, designers, and developers.

• Integrate external APIs and tailor WordPress for specific functionalities.

• Provide support for current client websites.

• Document plugins, newly developed code, themes, and any modifications to plugins.

• Enhance both personal and team skills through training, exploration, and research.

• Create new features that are user-facing.

• Develop reusable code and libraries.

• Optimize applications for both performance and scalability.

• Deliver functional and testable code by specified deadlines.

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders while employing Agile methodologies.

• Work with existing teams to optimize site applications.

• Manage multiple custom frameworks, ensuring both accessibility and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• AEM experience or certification is required.

• Experience in migrating websites to WordPress (Gutenberg) is highly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of WordPress APIs, theme hierarchy, and custom Gutenberg block development.

• Proficient in accessibility for WordPress themes and blocks.

• Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, Sass, JavaScript, jQuery, React (Gutenberg), and ES6+.

• Proficient in MySQL.

• Strong understanding of version control systems like Git.

• Familiarity with modern team and project management tools, such as Jira and Slack.

• Excellent documentation abilities.

• Knowledge of front-end testing and related tooling.

• Understanding of npm task runners, including WebPack.

• Must be a US citizen and able to acquire a security clearance.

• Understanding of Python classes and development.

• WP CLI experience is a bonus.

• Experience with WP VIP (Docker / WP VIP CLI) is a bonus.

• Python experience for data extraction and migration to Gutenberg is a bonus.
