Senior UX Designer, Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete design process from defining the problem and conducting research to interaction design, prototyping, validation, and implementation.

• Create workflows for the generation and management of detections, alert reviews, investigations, triage, search pivots, threat coverage, normalization, and enrichment.

• Utilize security judgment to assess evidence, provenance, confidence, severity, permissions, auditability, destructive actions, and operational risk.

• Develop AI-assisted and agentic experiences with clear intent, context, sources, capabilities, uncertainty, and user consent.

• Leverage Cribl’s design system and contribute reusable components, patterns, guidance, and interaction models.

• Utilize Figma for exploration, prototyping, documentation, collaboration, and project handoff.

• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, UX researchers, and designers to ensure feasibility, accessibility, resilience, and high-fidelity implementation.

• Present work through critiques and working sessions; engage in giving and receiving constructive feedback.

• Employ research and product insights to prioritize opportunities, assess concepts, and enhance existing workflows.

• Articulate design rationale, trade-offs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Occasionally undertake responsibilities outside of standard working hours to facilitate collaboration across time zones.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing intricate B2B software, enterprise platforms, or products aimed at technical users.

• A background in security product design, security operations, threat detection, incident response, threat hunting, detection engineering, SOC workflows, SIEM, EDR, SOAR, or a related field.

• An understanding of the realities faced by security practitioners, including noisy signals, incomplete evidence, time constraints, and high-stakes decisions.

• Strong product thinking and interaction design capabilities.

• Experience in designing AI-assisted, agentic, conversational, or other innovative interaction models.

• Proficient in Figma, with advanced skills in prototyping and design documentation.

• Proven expertise in working with and contributing to design systems.

• Familiarity with AI tools and AI UX interaction models.

• Experience in closely collaborating with Product and Engineering teams in an iterative and dynamic environment.

• Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem-solving abilities.

• A portfolio featuring case studies that highlight role, process, decisions, collaboration, and results; candidates should be prepared to present and discuss their previous work.

• Familiarity with research tools such as Dovetail.

• Experience working with security data, detections, alerts, investigations, threat intelligence, telemetry, data pipelines, or analytical workflows.

• Background in designing for roles, permissions, tenants, environments, or varying levels of technical expertise.

• Knowledge of accessible product design and inclusive interaction practices.

• Familiarity with WCAG principles, keyboard interactions, focus management, semantic structure, color contrast, and accessible content patterns.

• Understanding of OCSF, MITRE ATT&CK, KQL, Sigma, detection rules, threat intelligence, or related topics.
