This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.
• Design and implement 2D artwork, incorporating layers, transparency, and parallax effects.
• Design and implement 3D models, including vehicles, environmental objects, props, and textures.
• Develop and integrate both 2D and 3D visual effects, materials, shaders, and animations.
• Manage cameras, lighting, reflections, set dressing, particle effects, surfaces, rigging, and physics.
• Optimize and assess visual elements to ensure appropriate frame rates and loading times.
• Deliver visual solutions for complex art challenges and prototype innovative visual concepts.
• Work in conjunction with art and narrative teams to ensure artwork aligns with the game's visual design and themes.
• Diagnose and resolve art-related issues within video games.
• Mentor artists in enhancing their technical art skills.
• Communicate technical art issues to the development team.
• Collaborate with the development team, sharing updates and challenges while helping set realistic timelines and expectations.
• Engage in internal game testing and provide artistic feedback.
• Create and sustain essential technical documentation.
• Balance and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, agreed timeframes, and budget constraints.
• Senior-level position with 8+ years of professional technical art experience in video game development using Unity.
• Proficient in all stages of the video game development lifecycle: concept, design, prototyping, programming, content creation, testing, optimization, launch, and support.
• Extensive knowledge of perspective and lighting principles.
• Ability to operate within a predefined artistic style.
• Familiarity with best practices in technical artistry, design patterns, and unit testing.
• Understanding of Unity, its rendering pipelines, and the interaction with various art forms.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude and resourcefulness.
• Excellent self-discipline, motivation, organization, attention to detail, and adaptability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across various disciplines and personality types.
• Proficient in remote work using various collaboration tools.
• Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills in English, along with presentation capabilities.
• Knowledge of source control and project branching strategies.
• Experience with professional art tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, 3ds Max, Blender, and Adobe Substance Painter.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
• A portfolio showcasing artwork is required.
• Must reside within the UTC-4 to UTC-8 time zones.
• Must be located in and authorized to work in the USA or Canada.
• H-1B transfers and sponsorships are not available.
• Bonus: Strong skills in 3D modeling and texturing, orthographic asset views, ZBrush, Python or Lua scripting, and UI design.
• Remote position.
• Potential option to transition to a full-time employee for ideal candidates, based on location, skills, fit, project requirements, and timing.
• Regular online team collaboration during core company work hours.
• Occasional evening calls to collaborate with overseas vendors.
