This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Collaborate within a product trio consisting of product management, engineering, and design to grasp users' needs and use cases.
• Lead the UI/UX process from initial discovery phases to polished implementation.
• Conduct exploratory user research and perform usability testing.
• Convert research insights into clear and actionable concepts.
• Create high-fidelity mockups using Figma.
• Refine ideas based on feedback from users, engineers, product teams, and QA.
• Work alongside engineers to ensure seamless translation of designs into implementation.
• Maintain and advance the design system by creating and documenting components and patterns.
• Revise and enhance existing software areas that require improvement.
• Strike a balance between ideal user experience, technical constraints, product strategy, and delivery schedules.
• Contribute innovative ideas to enhance the overall OpenProject experience.
• Strong UI/UX design experience with complex digital products.
• Proven experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
• Proficient in developing concepts, design iterations, and high-fidelity mockups using Figma.
• Experience working closely within a cross-functional product team, including engineering, product management, QA, marketing, and sales.
• Experience in maintaining or contributing to a design system.
• Ability to balance ideal user experience with technical realities and practical delivery.
• Pragmatic mindset with a focus on iterative improvement.
• A thoughtful, creative, curious, and communicative team player.
• A portfolio showcasing the products you have worked on.
• A non-AI generated CV and cover letter detailing your motivation.
• Experience with open-source projects and familiarity with distributed Git-based version control systems such as GitHub or GitLab is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Flexible remote work location within 2 hours (time-zone) of Berlin, Germany.
