This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.
• Oversee the development of cutting tool products from initial concept to final commercialization.
• Investigate and assess emerging technologies, materials, coatings, manufacturing techniques, and industry trends.
• Design and enhance solid carbide, carbide-tipped, ceramic, PCD, CBN, and specialized cutting tools.
• Create and validate product performance through laboratory and production testing methodologies.
• Formulate test plans, evaluate results, and deliver data-driven recommendations.
• Explore coatings, grades, additive manufacturing, and digital manufacturing solutions.
• Develop and deploy digital engineering tools, databases, software applications, and AI-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to facilitate the transition of new products into production.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking and product performance studies.
• Promote continuous improvement focused on product performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability.
• Keep abreast of market trends, customer needs, and advancements in the industry.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, specifications, and product documentation.
• Assist end-users at customer sites and machine tool builders.
• Work alongside the design team to enhance processes and procedures.
• Travel both domestically and internationally, with a target travel rate of 30%.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in product development, research and development, manufacturing, or cutting tool design.
• In-depth application knowledge and experience in metal cutting.
• Preferred CAD/CAM experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and/or Mastercam.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities concerning basic manufacturing processes.
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Capability to drive or fly to all facilities as needed.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds at a time.
