Senior Trial Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Manage litigation cases primarily across the New York City metropolitan region

• Evaluate intricate legal and factual matters and perform thorough legal research

• Independently formulate and articulate defense strategies for clients

• Draft complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs autonomously

• Offer communications, insights, legal counsel, and additional services to clients and claims regarding legal and factual concerns

• Prepare and present witnesses and evidence during trials, hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolution processes

• Leverage trial experience and litigation expertise to facilitate advantageous negotiated settlements

• Adhere to Litigation Management Guidelines

• Timely, efficiently, and effectively resolve assigned cases

• Build and nurture professional relationships with courts, the Bar, the office, and external business partners

• Provide legal opinions to the Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, clients, and claims customers

• Employ Generative Artificial Intelligence tools to enhance decision-making and recommendations

• Mentor and guide staff members

• Report directly to the Staff Legal Managing Attorney

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school

• Licensed to practice in the State of New York

• Member in good standing of the New York State Bar

• At least 15+ years of substantial, relevant experience in insurance defense trials

• Familiarity with New York Supreme Courts

• Exceptional organizational abilities and capability to prioritize various responsibilities and time

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient computer and technological skills

• Self-driven to meet high standards and continually enhance skills

• Adaptable, with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn and develop

• Proven expense management discipline

• Demonstrated integrity while fostering trust with clients, claim professional colleagues, attorney partners, and support team members

• Willing to travel to and manage cases in downstate venues

• Admission to practice in Federal Courts is advantageous
