This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Translate medical, pharmaceutical, administrative, commercial, advertising, and media-related documents from English into French.
• Review primarily French-language texts, with an increasing responsibility over time.
• Assess both internal and external vendor translations to ensure consistency in terminology and precision.
• Address consultation requests from various business units and disseminate knowledge within the team.
• Collaborate on the planning, prioritization, and management of translation and editing tasks.
• Provide guidance to internal clients and colleagues while consulting with stakeholders in specialized fields.
• Create and maintain glossaries, lexicons, and writing standards.
• Collaborate on the management of computer-assisted translation tools and remain updated on innovations.
• Act as a liaison with translation vendors and strategic internal clients.
• Develop initiatives that promote the use of French, including events organized as part of Francofête.
• Engage in activities related to the company’s French-language compliance obligations.
• Draft and oversee Linguistic Services management and operational documents.
• Represent AbbVie Canada’s interests within AbbVie’s global organizations.
• Collaborate on optimizing resources.
• Suggest practical solutions to business challenges.
• Support change and innovation within the company’s strategic functions.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA) in English-French translation or an equivalent qualification.
• Relevant experience with a strong understanding of the health or life sciences sector; experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is advantageous.
• At least 10 years of experience translating from English into French.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in comparative English-to-French revision.
• Experience in translating, updating, and reviewing product monographs for medicines and medical devices.
• Professional designation (OTTIAQ, ATIO, or equivalent) is beneficial.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to language quality and value.
• Capability to think and plan strategically while delivering outstanding results.
• Ability to establish strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Capacity to work under pressure and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to operate independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent command of industry-specific phrasing and terminology.
• Technologically adept and comfortable using the required tools and systems for daily operations.
• Familiarity with LogiTerm is an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
• Fluency in French, very strong knowledge of English, excellent writing skills, and impeccable style.
• Ability to work in a multinational organization.
