This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Oversee the Technical Services Team and distribute specialized support across machinery, electrical, navigation, hospital, accommodation, deck, and other designated systems.
β’ Synchronize specialist priorities and schedules for AMPs, dry dockings, defect resolution, and significant technical projects.
β’ Facilitate specialist support for intricate, multidisciplinary, or recurring vessel challenges and collaborate with third-party vendors.
β’ Spearhead the implementation and ongoing enhancement of engineering practices and maintenance strategies.
β’ Ensure the quality and content of the planned maintenance system in collaboration with the Fleet Technical Manager.
β’ Work together on engineering review and acceptance recommendations for complex repairs, modifications, upgrades, and technical solutions.
β’ Set engineering adequacy standards and offer technical review and acceptance recommendations for major repairs, replacements, upgrades, modifications, and installations.
β’ Initiate change management for equipment and modifications based on risk assessments.
β’ Manage technical cases for significant equipment replacement and modifications, integrating them into asset lifecycle and roadmap planning.
β’ Influence vendor selection, obsolescence management, and long-term capital planning.
β’ Monitor maritime regulations, Classification Society guidelines, Flag State requirements, and industry standards.
β’ Coordinate fleet-impact evaluations and assist in implementing necessary changes, including technical documentation and submissions.
β’ Enhance Technical Services capability through coaching, knowledge transfer, delegation, and succession planning.
β’ Assist in recruitment and placement processes for engineering candidates.
β’ Foster relationships with vessel leadership, shipyards, contractors, suppliers, Classification Societies, Flag States, and external technical partners.
β’ Bachelorβs degree or an equivalent technical qualification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional qualifications and extensive maritime technical experience may be considered.
β’ A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible maritime technical experience.
β’ Background in technical superintendency, marine surveying, senior shipboard engineering, fleet technical management, or similar technical leadership roles.
β’ Experience with vessel maintenance periods, dry dockings, repairs, equipment replacement, technical modifications, and interactions with Classification Societies, Flag States, shipyards, contractors, and vessel technical teams.
β’ Proven experience leading technical personnel and coordinating specialist resources in an international, regulated, or safety-critical setting.
β’ Extensive knowledge of vessel technical operations, maintenance, repair, dry docking, defect management, and technical support in a maritime context.
β’ Working familiarity with ship machinery and systems across engineering, electrical, deck, hospital, and accommodation disciplines.
β’ Understanding of maritime regulations, Classification Society standards, Flag State requirements, statutory surveys, and technical compliance processes.
β’ Proficient in planned maintenance systems, maintenance strategies, asset lifecycle principles, obsolescence management, and Management of Change practices.
β’ Capability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, manuals, engineering documentation, survey requirements, and regulatory information.
β’ Willingness and ability to travel internationally, including extended periods onboard vessels and at shipyards.
β’ Preferred: STCW III/2 Marine Engineering Officer Certificate of Competency, Chief Engineer qualification, or equivalent professional marine engineering credential.
β’ Preferred: ISM/ISPS, Classification Society, statutory survey, or maritime auditing qualifications.
β’ Preferred: Professional engineering, technical superintendent, asset management, or other recognized maritime technical qualifications.
