Senior Technical Product Manager, Banking Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the banking platform roadmap covering accounts, deposits, cards, and lending utilizing a unified ledger and account model.

• Assess core banking platforms and processors, perform vendor due diligence, model costs and timelines for market delivery, and assist in build-versus-buy evaluations.

• Design account hierarchies, sub-ledgers, chart-of-accounts mapping, posting rules, holds, interest and fee accrual, as well as general ledger integration.

• Define requirements for transfers, ACH, card issuance and network settlement, real-time processing, returns, reversals, exception management, cutoff periods, and settlement reconciliation.

• Guarantee reporting, traceability, controls, reconciliation, balance attestation, and comprehensive transaction history for Finance, audit, and regulatory compliance.

• Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to convert regulatory requirements into platform functionalities.

• Manage migration and cutover planning, including data mapping, parallel-run strategies, validation standards, rollback procedures, and phased cutover plans.

• Produce detailed technical specifications, API contracts, event schemas, data models, user stories, and release schedules.

• Establish and track platform KPIs such as posting latency, reconciliation break rates, settlement accuracy, and failure rates using SQL.

• Identify potential technical risks, edge cases, race conditions, and dependencies.

• Meet changing regulatory and business deadlines with incomplete information.

• Work collaboratively with Engineering, Finance, Compliance, Treasury, and Risk during the product development lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (required).

• 5–10 years of product experience, with significant time dedicated to financial infrastructure rather than solely customer-facing interfaces.

• Proven ownership of at least one area: ledgers, general ledgers, or balance and transaction systems; payment processing, orchestration, or funds movement; card issuance or program management; deposit, wallet, or account platforms; lending origination or loan servicing systems; product roles at a processor, BaaS provider, or core banking vendor.

• Familiarity with double-entry accounting principles as they relate to software — debits and credits, sub-ledgers, accruals, and reconciliation — or a genuine desire to quickly become proficient in these areas.

• Strong technical knowledge of APIs, event-driven architectures, idempotency, distributed system failure modes, batch vs. real-time processing, and data workflows.

• Proficient SQL skills and the ability to independently query and interpret data.

• Experience working directly with Compliance, Legal, Finance, or Treasury as stakeholders.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and make informed, documented decisions with incomplete information.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Practical experience with AI tools, data models, or generative AI applications.

• Preferred: direct experience with core banking platforms; core migrations, conversions, or significant ledger replacements; chartered or licensed financial institutions; consumer finance regulations; consumer credit or BNPL, card products, or bank-fintech sponsorship programs; third-party risk management and vendor oversight within a regulated environment.
