This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Lead intricate personal property compliance initiatives and conduct assessment reviews of machinery and equipment across sectors such as industrial manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, communication, and energy.
• Support the implementation of strategies and recommendations aimed at tax savings.
• Examine annual personal property tax returns along with reconciliations.
• Analyze personal property fixed asset listings to identify misclassified assets.
• Review applicable state and local laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Carry out physical inspections of client facilities and engage with production managers.
• Collaborate with client financial and accounting teams to assess policies and procedures.
• Prepare detailed analyses highlighting property tax savings opportunities and issues.
• Generate and modify findings reports in conjunction with the tax manager.
• Meet with clients to discuss the implementation of findings and address any liabilities.
• Assist client tax departments with personal property filings and changes in methodology.
• Support appeals, amended annual returns, and refund requests.
• Aid in negotiations for assessment reductions with assessing authorities.
• Represent and manage clients throughout formal appeals processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Coursework in Appraisal is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in a role such as Associate Tax Consultant or an equivalent position.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are required.
• Experience with valuation software is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines autonomously.
• A valid driver’s license is necessary.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Availability for a regular 40-hour workweek.
• Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods.
• Capacity to hear, understand, and differentiate speech and sounds.
• Frequent repetitive hand motions may be required.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds.
