This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Oversee compliance, planning, and audits related to indirect tax for Westinghouse and its subsidiaries.
• Assist federal and international tax operations with the indirect tax consequences of transactions and projects.
• Supervise state and local corporate income tax issues.
• Maintain relationships across corporate functions that impact Global Tax.
• Direct the preparation and submission of around 1,100 state and local sales and use tax returns annually for all U.S. jurisdictions.
• Handle state and local sales and use tax audits and inquiries, including information requests, workpapers, adjustments, settlements, protests, and appeals.
• Identify and implement indirect tax planning strategies to minimize cash taxes and associated risks.
• Evaluate the indirect tax effects of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and intercompany transactions.
• Create tax procedures that support internal controls, SOX compliance, and ASC 450 reserves.
• Oversee and enhance Alteryx and Vertex tax technology tools.
• Provide advice on SAP implementations for acquired and merged entities.
• Review indirect tax journal entries prior to posting in SAP.
• Manage customer and vendor exemption certificates.
• Evaluate indirect tax account reconciliations.
• Assist with U.S. federal and state income tax planning, compliance, accounting, and ASC 740 provisions.
• Oversee the preparation of approximately 42 state income tax filings.
• Document state and local tax technical issues, positions, changes in tax law, exemptions, nexus studies, and registration requirements.
• Lead a team of indirect tax analysts and provide guidance to other tax team members.
• Manage budgets for state and local indirect taxes and third-party advisory fees.
• Direct the preparation of Canadian GST/HST/QST/PST returns.
• Oversee miscellaneous filings, including W-9 forms, property tax returns, annual reports, business licenses, federal excise tax returns, and unauthorized insurance tax returns.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in state and local tax is necessary.
• Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm, a multinational company, or interaction with a state tax authority is preferred.
• A master's degree in taxation or accounting is preferred.
• CPA certification is preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of state and local tax laws and regulations is essential.
