• Design, develop, implement, and troubleshoot software for power and performance management in data centers, focusing on comprehensive power management across racks and data halls.
• Create real-time control systems, policies, and mechanisms that optimize performance, power consumption, thermal management, and energy efficiency in the face of demanding workloads in data centers.
• Lead the development of features throughout the entire process including requirements gathering, architectural design, implementation, pre-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, productization, and ongoing production support.
• Work closely with GPU architects and hardware designers to establish hardware-software interfaces and enhance the power management capabilities of future processors.
• Evaluate the interplay between workloads, clock speeds, voltage levels, power constraints, thermal conditions, telemetry data, and overarching system policies.
• Spearhead the investigation and resolution of issues related to power, performance, stability, and reliability across firmware, drivers, hardware, and platform software.
• Formulate validation strategies and automation processes to ensure functional correctness, transition latency, performance-per-watt, and robustness.
• Develop architecture, define interfaces, and create specifications for new power management features.
• Collaborate with teams specializing in distributed architecture, ASIC design, firmware, driver development, validation, platform support, and data center systems.
• A BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline—or equivalent professional experience.
• Over 12 years of substantial industry experience in developing system software, embedded firmware, device drivers, or related production software for hardware.
• Proficient programming skills in C, with experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining intricate low-level software.
• In-depth knowledge of operating system principles, device-driver architecture, embedded or real-time software, concurrency, interrupt handling, and hardware programming.
• Experience in interpreting hardware specifications and creating software interfaces for registers, telemetry, interrupts, and control systems.
• Strong grasp of computer architecture and the interactions between hardware and software.
• Proven track record of independently debugging complex issues across various software and hardware levels.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a history of effective collaboration across organizational and geographical lines.
• Experience in designing, architecting, or implementing data center provisioning, monitoring, and power management strategies in a CSP/NCP environment.
• Practical experience with power and performance management for GPUs, CPUs, accelerators, or SoCs.
• Familiarity with developing or implementing policies for P-state selection, DVFS, clock control, voltage control, power capping, thermal management, throttling, or workload-aware controls.
• Experience in developing real-time feedback control systems, considering factors such as stability, responsiveness, hysteresis, latency, and noisy telemetry data.
• Knowledge of electrical and platform aspects, including voltage-frequency relationships, transient power, thermal limitations, power delivery systems, and system-level power budgets.
