Senior Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +46 more states.

📋 Description

• Engage in the complete engineering lifecycle, which encompasses design, documentation, development, testing, and maintenance of the SmithRx product suite.

• Concentrate on back-end architecture, developing and sustaining product features utilizing Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, and SQL.

• Utilize CI/CD methodologies for rapid iteration.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leaders to grasp functional and technical requirements.

• Deliver high-quality, scalable software and services.

• Offer scope and risk assessments through technical design documentation.

• Implement software development best practices, design patterns, testing, automation, tools, and technologies.

• Employ AWS Lambda and Fargate for job and batch processing.

• Investigate production issues, evaluate impact, execute both short- and long-term mitigation strategies, and conduct root cause analysis.

• Mentor and guide junior team members through code and design reviews.

• Collaborate with senior leadership to translate technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.

• Promote a culture of collaborative learning through mentorship, code reviews, exploration of new technologies, and innovation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 4 years of equivalent professional experience.

• 12-15 years of software development experience, specifically focused on server-side applications, including API servers, third-party integrations, and data processing.

• Proficiency in a compiled language such as Go, Java, or Kotlin is mandatory.

• Expertise in relational databases like PostgreSQL, covering schema design, SQL optimization, and database monitoring is essential.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable APIs.

• Strong understanding of design patterns, database design, and testing best practices.

• Familiarity with GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS platform, Docker, and Kubernetes is advantageous.

• Previous experience at a high-growth startup is a plus.

• A disciplined approach to software design and development is required.

• Capable of working independently, accurately forecasting delivery milestones, and managing stakeholder expectations.
