Senior Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and enhance cloud infrastructure utilizing Terraform and Pulumi.

• Architect and oversee cloud networking, identity/access control, account/subscription hierarchy, and resource governance.

• Develop and apply cloud-based disaster recovery strategies that align with enterprise RTO/RPO requirements.

• Establish standards for high availability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in Azure and/or AWS environments.

• Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing developer experience, platform reliability, and operational excellence.

• Create internal tools and automation processes to facilitate cloud adoption and resource provisioning.

• Act as a technical leader and mentor across platform, SRE, and product teams.

• Collaborate with security, compliance, and operations teams to uphold cloud architecture policies and guidelines.

• Represent the platform team in architecture reviews, planning sessions, and cross-functional programs.

• Contribute to building and managing the foundation of Veeam’s modern data protection platform, cloud architecture, disaster recovery preparedness, and internal developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure roles, with extensive knowledge in Azure.

• Experience in designing and maintaining production infrastructure for enterprise SaaS applications.

• Proven track record in defining and executing cloud disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

• Strong comprehension of cloud networking, identity and access management, multi-account/subscription architecture, and policy enforcement.

• Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform or Pulumi and CI/CD systems.

• Skilled in scripting or programming in Bash, Python, or Go.

• Demonstrated capability to lead large-scale technical projects and promote the adoption of best practices.

• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions beyond the immediate team.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Experience with multi-cloud environments (preferred).

• Familiarity with internal developer platforms, service mesh, or API gateway patterns (preferred).

• Knowledge of cloud compliance frameworks and security best practices (preferred).
