Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create solutions for precise risk identification in customer data

• Convert risk identification techniques into agent logic

• Maintain high standards across risk analysis, explanations, and recommendations

• Work in partnership with threat-research teams to comprehend data, threats, and security heuristics

• Determine and address data needs for analysis

• Develop and collaborate on data pipelines, enrichments, and aggregations together with data engineering teams

• Implement backtesting, optimize precision/recall, tuning, and quality control for threat detection

• Deploy and oversee solutions in production within the CI/CD framework

• Report to the Manager of AI Platform and Data Science in the AI Platform and Data Science department

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building LLM-powered agents in production, including tool and function calling, prompt and context engineering, multi-step orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, or similar), and assessing non-deterministic output against ground truth

• Over 8 years of professional experience in Python development

• Capability to design and sustain production-grade systems with validated inputs, data contracts, extensive unit tests, and integration tests

• Proficient with SQL and Python data analytics libraries such as pandas, Polars, and NumPy

• Experience in ensuring production reliability with CI/CD, containerization, structured logging and metrics, observability and alerting, on-call participation, incident debugging in live distributed systems, and cloud/infrastructure-as-code using AWS

• Sr. Staff level responsibility and leadership of emerging requirements, architecture, and complex engineering projects

• Preferred: experience in production AI or ML systems balancing cost, latency, and accuracy, including model selection, routing, and regression testing

• Preferred: background in cyber threat research, threat modeling, threat hunting, detection engineering, data-driven risk analysis, fraud detection, adversary profiling and targeting, actuarial risk, or collaboration with risk analysis teams

• Preferred: data engineering experience with large-volume event-data pipelines, SQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Athena/Presto, schema evolution, backfills, and data quality validation
