Senior Staff Engineer, Software Infrastructure Reliability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and uphold high-scale developer tools and backend services throughout a distributed cloud environment.

• Take ownership of the complete development lifecycle, encompassing local development tools, CI/CD, dynamic testing environments, deployments, and releases.

• Create an infrastructure platform that allows engineering teams to provide observability for large technology organizations.

• Establish, deploy, and manage reproducible, version-controlled environments utilizing Terraform.

• Recognize and eliminate systemic bottlenecks in the software development lifecycle through architectural enhancements and advanced tooling.

• Enhance infrastructure for resilience under significant traffic loads, performance, cost efficiency, and near-real-time telemetry processing.

• Set platform standards and reference architectures over a 1–3 year timeframe.

• Provide consultancy across teams regarding infrastructure best practices.

• Mentor engineers and elevate the organization's technical capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of relevant experience.

• Strong expertise in at least one backend programming language: Go, Java, Python, or Rust.

• Familiarity with cloud service providers such as AWS or GCP.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes and container-level logic.

• Extensive understanding of Linux internals, process management, and resource isolation.

• Comprehension of the OSI model, service meshes, load balancing, and zero-trust security frameworks.

• Experience in building and troubleshooting distributed systems, including CAP theorem trade-offs, eventual consistency, and distributed tracing.

• Reliable task completion and accurate work estimation within a sprint.

• Capability to debug code using logs and tests, identifying design edge cases.

• Strong communication skills for code reviews and design discussions.

• Proactive attitude towards learning new tools, processes, and libraries.

• Experience or interest in AI coding assistants such as Cursor or Claude.
