Senior Staff Attorney – Workers' Compensation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Evaluate intricate legal and factual matters while performing comprehensive legal research.

• Develop and present defense strategies autonomously on behalf of clients.

• Draft pleadings, written discovery, responses to motions for summary judgment, and trial briefs.

• Collaborate with Claims Partners to secure favorable outcomes for Hartford clients and insured parties.

• Deliver timely communications, legal counsel, and litigation-related services to clients.

• Engage with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel effectively.

• Ensure the prompt, efficient, and effective resolution of assigned cases.

• Prepare and present witnesses and evidence during trials, hearings, and motions.

• Conduct research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs.

• Participate in Team Huddles and engage in claims file assessments.

• Provide in-house training for junior associates and/or claims partners.

• Attend continuing legal education seminars regularly.

• Travel for mandatory in-person hearings, trials, and motions within the Northern (Hackensack) and Western New Jersey vicinities.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 7 years of legal practice experience managing complex, admitted, occupational, and dependency Workers’ Compensation cases.

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.

• Valid license to practice law in New Jersey.

• Experience in trial litigation.

• Exceptional legal research and writing capabilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

• Strong computer skills and adeptness in a paperless and task-oriented environment.

• Ability to rapidly adapt to new software as needed.

• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

• Proven expertise and familiarity in managing claim cases and litigation processes.
