Senior SRE/DevOps Engineer – Networking-Heavy Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance Webshare's production infrastructure.

• Spearhead the transition from Docker Swarm to Kubernetes on-premises.

• Ensure high availability across hundreds of servers and around 50 services.

• Foster observability in collaboration with the development team.

• Implement and uphold Infrastructure as Code practices and ensure CI/CD pipeline reliability.

• Be part of the on-call rotation alongside backend engineers.

• Address infrastructure incidents, lead resolutions, conduct post-mortems, and drive systematic remediation.

• Contribute to platform tooling aimed at enhancing developer experience and minimizing infrastructure toil.

• Collaborate with a skilled team of backend engineers to manage infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and managing highly available infrastructure at scale, including hundreds of servers, numerous services, and real production loads.

• Proficiency in hands-on Kubernetes (K8s) in self-hosted or bare-metal environments.

• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code.

• Skills in scripting and development.

• A proactive mindset, capable of identifying issues and keeping the team informed.

• Nice to have: experience in leading significant infrastructure migrations.

• Nice to have: familiarity with Python and/or Go.

• Nice to have: exposure to proxy and networking-intensive infrastructure.

• Nice to have: experience in a small team where developers shared responsibility for infrastructure.

• Nice to have: familiarity with edge clusters or split compute/edge architectures.
