This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee intricate sponsored projects throughout their entire lifecycle.
• Spearhead the creation and submission of complex proposals, which may involve multiple principal investigators, various locations, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Formulate and assess detailed budgets while providing guidance on cost allowability, allocability, and reasonableness.
• Analyze sponsor guidelines and counsel faculty on proposal strategies and compliance obligations.
• Coordinate teams across different functions and manage timelines for urgent submissions.
• Identify funding prospects that align with faculty research interests and institutional goals.
• Evaluate proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to submission.
• Train and mentor junior personnel and institutional partners on the proposal development and submission processes.
• Review award terms and conditions, advising on compliance requirements, potential risks, and necessary actions.
• Manage non-financial post-award activities, such as prior approvals, reporting strategies, and project closeout.
• Supervise the subaward lifecycle, including drafting agreements, providing negotiation support, and resolving issues.
• Act as the main point of contact for sponsors regarding administrative matters and award management inquiries.
• Address complex issues involving faculty, sponsors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure consistent interpretation and application of sponsor and institutional policies within the assigned portfolio.
• Perform additional related duties as necessary.
• A bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in sponsored research administration.
• Proven track record in managing complex proposals and handling multiple concurrent submissions.
• Strong understanding of federal regulations and sponsor guidelines.
• Familiarity with InfoEd, Grants.gov, and eRA Commons.
• Advanced knowledge of federal sponsor regulations and institutional policies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with faculty, leadership, and external sponsors.
• Capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in research administration systems and data management tools.
• Strong project management and coordination skills across diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to offer training, mentorship, and leadership to junior staff members.
• Candidates must reside in Southern California.
• CRA certification is preferred.
