Senior Software Engineer – WordPress

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with Principal Engineers to shape the future architecture and systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and adherence to modern standards.

• Work with a variety of codebases and systems, mainly using PHP (WordPress) and JavaScript/TypeScript, while also interacting with other languages and technologies as necessary.

• Develop and improve tools that enhance and streamline workflows for colleagues in the newsroom.

• Maintain high engineering standards by ensuring that applications and infrastructure align with best practices in performance, security, and maintainability.

• Mentor and assist teammates, sharing knowledge while learning from colleagues with complementary expertise.

• Promote continuous improvement by contributing ideas and solutions that make a significant impact on products and the engineering culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound understanding of PHP, WordPress, and best practices.

• Practical experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and development using React/Gutenberg block editor.

• Proven experience writing automated tests with PHPUnit and Jest.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) (may be less critical now).

• Experience with modern developer tools such as containerization, CI/CD, and version control.

• Ability to lead and nurture developers with varying levels of experience.
