Senior Software Engineer, Web

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance high-quality web experiences for members utilizing contemporary frontend technologies, prioritizing usability, accessibility, performance, and dependability.

• Take ownership of significant projects from start to finish: identify the issue, formulate the technical strategy, collaborate with Product and Design, deliver iteratively, and assess results.

• Engage throughout the entire stack, covering frontend applications, APIs, backend services, data flows, and partnerships with external systems.

• Assist in defining frontend architecture, which includes application patterns, state management, component reuse, testing strategies, observability, and performance practices.

• Make considered trade-offs between speed, quality, maintainability, and user impact.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data, Clinical, and other engineering teams to transform complex healthcare workflows into straightforward, intuitive member experiences.

• Enhance developer experience through improved tooling, documentation, testing, development workflows, and engineering standards.

• Support the team in adopting effective AI-assisted and agentic coding practices while upholding a high standard for code quality, security, and engineering judgment.

• Participate in design reviews, technical planning, code evaluations, incident follow-ups, and continuous improvements to reliability and latency.

• Mentor fellow engineers and foster a culture of direct feedback, collaboration, learning, and accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, specifically in building and managing production web applications.

• Extensive hands-on expertise in frontend development with JavaScript or TypeScript, as well as a modern web framework such as React.

• Strong grasp of frontend architecture, including state management, component design, browser behavior, performance, accessibility, and testing.

• Proven experience in creating responsive, accessible, and reliable user experiences that cater to genuine customer or member needs.

• Full-stack development experience with the capacity to effectively contribute to APIs, backend services, data flows, and service integrations.

• Demonstrated experience in making technical decisions within ambiguous situations and guiding projects from concept to production.

• Strong product instincts backed by a successful history of collaborating effectively with Product and Design teams.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A pragmatic and collaborative mindset: comfortable taking ownership, asking insightful questions, integrating feedback, and ensuring critical work is completed successfully.
