Senior Software Engineer, Streaming Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage directly with coding, design, and testing while collaborating with teams, internal stakeholders, and leadership to successfully deliver multi-month projects within deadlines.

• Architect, develop, and manage extensive CDC and batch export systems across Airbnb's online databases.

• Contribute to the architectural evolution of DMT's unified data movement platform.

• Enhance the dependability, performance, and efficiency of systems that support essential business operations.

• Streamline the process for Airbnb engineers to transfer data into offline systems.

• Participate in on-call duties and elevate the operational standards for the platform.

• Work alongside DMT teams that handle real-time streaming infrastructure, pipeline orchestration, and schema management.

⛳️ Requirements

• More than 5 years of experience in building and managing large-scale backend distributed systems, including data ingestion, streaming, CDC, storage, or data platforms.

• Practical experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka.

• Familiarity with how databases capture and disseminate changes, including binlogs, Debezium, or similar technologies.

• Capability to take ownership and delve deeply into a complex codebase.

• Experience in maintaining, analyzing, and troubleshooting production systems on a large scale.

• Ability to write clean, readable, testable, and maintainable code.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote work environment.

• Strong sense of ownership and a proven track record of timely delivery.

• Experience in building managed or multi-tenant platforms utilized by other engineering teams is a plus.

• Knowledge of MySQL/Aurora, schema evolution, or large-scale batch data processing is a bonus.
