Senior Software Engineer – Accounts

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, optimize, and enhance REST APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries for various functions such as registration, authentication, identity verification, fraud and AML screening, geolocation compliance, responsible gaming, regulatory reporting, and player notifications.

• Take ownership of high-impact technical challenges and present solutions to leadership and partner teams.

• Conceptualize, architect, and implement features from start to finish within an agile/scrum framework.

• Identify production bottlenecks and risks while driving improvements in scalability.

• Establish and refine Datadog monitoring and alerting systems.

• Guide engineers through specifications, collaborative coding, and code reviews.

• Work closely with stakeholders across various business domains to deliver products, enhance operational efficiencies, and achieve cost savings.

• Integrate internal, third-party, legacy, and modern systems through migrations, data translation, and supportive infrastructure.

• Execute additional responsibilities as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• Solid foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.

• Proven experience with production systems at scale, including load testing, tracing, and identifying areas for improvement.

• Experience in investigating and resolving CPU, I/O, memory, and latency regressions in high-throughput services.

• Familiarity with on-call rotations and managing release cycles from start to finish.

• Proficient in modern web frameworks and API development, such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Laravel, or Node.

• Strong understanding of relational databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, normalization, and denormalization.

• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.

• Proficient with terminal tools, Git, and GitHub or equivalent platforms.

• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or similar.

• Experience in background job processing using tools like Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalkd.

• Experience with asynchronous event infrastructures like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.

• Familiarity with agentic software development tools and workflows is a significant advantage.

• Experience in developing authentication, identity, or regulated systems that emphasize security and auditability.

• Understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, MFA, and secure management of PII.

• Experience integrating with third-party KYC, fraud detection, geolocation, or messaging providers is a plus.

• Additional experience with Elixir, hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Design, open source, startups, sports, or esports is favorable.

• Desirable experience with financial, legal, or accounting systems, GraphQL, multi-client/white-label platforms, and gaming regulatory requirements.
