Senior Software Engineer, Scala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain essential products, including a GraphQL API and event gateway utilizing Scala.

• Engage in discovery and spike tasks, address technical debt, and handle core delivery tickets.

• Participate in agile ceremonies such as weekly planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

• Collaborate with the broader engineering community on platform health assessments, post-mortems, and enhancing shared services.

• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for managing deployments on Kubernetes.

• Join the API Platform team to design and support critical components for a retail energy platform.

• Create a high-performance GraphQL API and event gateway that ensures coherent, low-latency data access for global energy clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in backend software development.

• Strong professional background in Scala.

• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

• Familiarity with GraphQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB).

• Proven ability to independently and proactively tackle complex problems.

• Experience in pair programming and conducting peer reviews.

• Nice to have: Experience with Kafka and Avro in event-driven architectures.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of AWS components and monitoring tools.

• Nice to have: Understanding of Kubernetes-hosted environments.

• Nice to have: Awareness of SRE principles, including disaster recovery and platform health monitoring.

• Nice to have: Background in software design, service architecture, or technical options analysis.
