Senior Software Engineer – Rust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision for Kraken Consumer applications

• Take charge of the architecture and delivery of Rust backend services that support trading, payments, and crypto experiences for customers

• Make decisions regarding the architecture of sustainable systems

• Navigate ambiguous, multi-quarter challenges from initial validation through to deployment and evaluation

• Decompose intricate problems so that team members can work concurrently

• Manage features from start to finish, encompassing customer experience, frontend implications, and the foundational product issue

• Collaborate with product leadership to define roadmaps and impact product choices

• Be accountable for product results and performance metrics

• Propel initiatives across Kraken's trading infrastructure, platform, and various product teams

• Cultivate relationships and ensure technical alignment among teams

• Provide mentorship to mid-level engineers

• Review designs prior to implementation

• Remove obstacles for team members and establish reusable engineering patterns and standards

• Leverage AI to enhance the scope and speed of engineering efforts, coordinating and validating implementations

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in backend engineering

• Strong proficiency in Rust, particularly in network services, asynchronous coding, and designing distributed systems

• Familiarity with RPC protocols, Kafka, and event-driven architectures

• Proven experience in owning production systems and making architectural choices

• Background in product engineering from problem identification through implementation, launch, and assessing user impact

• Demonstrated impact through mentoring, design reviews, technical documentation, or establishing standards

• Experience leading projects that span multiple teams or organizations

• Meaningful application of AI for coding, comprehending unfamiliar codebases, crossing technical boundaries, and validating implementations

• A mindset of ownership and the capability to work across both backend and frontend domains

• Full-stack experience, particularly with React/TypeScript or other frontend frameworks, is a plus

• Knowledge of cryptocurrency or blockchain is advantageous

• Experience in developing and scaling consumer-oriented products is a plus

• Experience in integrating AI tools or workflows into an engineering team is a plus
