This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define the technical direction for the Essentials squad, participate in architectural decisions, and assist teammates while actively engaging in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and refactor-friendly code.
• Enhance code quality through code reviews and collaborative pairing.
• Design and improve back-end systems, APIs, and data flows to ensure performance and reliability.
• Develop modern, responsive front-end experiences utilizing React, TypeScript, and CSS.
• Work with relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL, crafting efficient SQL queries and shaping data models.
• Lead projects from start to finish, identify risks early, and communicate trade-offs effectively.
• Collaborate with product, design, and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools, contribute to shared prompts and agentic workflows, and assist the team in adopting effective practices.
• Spot and prototype LLM and automation opportunities for engineering and internal workflows, adhering to healthcare data and regulated billing guidelines.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of full-stack development experience, with a strong emphasis on Ruby on Rails.
• Proficiency in React; 5+ years of experience is preferred.
• Proven experience in leading projects from inception to completion.
• A passion for mentoring others and guiding architectural decisions.
• Daily hands-on experience with AI development tools, including Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot.
• Experience or a strong interest in building with LLM APIs, focusing on prompt design, evaluation, and safety for sensitive data.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong project management skills, including planning, estimation, and scoping.
• Ability to thrive in an ever-evolving environment and make independent decisions.
• Capable of producing quality deliverables within tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
• Comfortable in a distributed, semi-virtual work setting.
