This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop clean, scalable, and maintainable software code to facilitate access to and management of in-home care services.
• Create, build, and sustain reliable, high-performance Ruby on Rails services.
• Enhance and support current products and applications while balancing feature enhancement with legacy system modernization.
• Take ownership of the complete development process for revenue-generating features that expand the platform's capabilities.
• Improve database queries and API performance for optimal speed, efficiency, and availability.
• Engage in architectural improvements and technical design discussions.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation to ensure system reliability.
• Elevate code quality, testing, and deployment practices.
• Carry out additional tasks as directed by a supervisor or HHAeXchange leader.
• Travel requirements are 10–25%, including overnight trips.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing production-quality Ruby on Rails applications.
• Strong expertise with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and software design principles.
• Proficient in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and in producing maintainable, well-tested code.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS services including ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and CircleCI.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong abilities in debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Comfortable in Agile development settings.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms is preferred.
• Background in supporting legacy systems and developing greenfield products is preferred.
• Exposure to GraphQL APIs and domain-driven design is preferred.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, or Scout APM is preferred.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration is preferred.
• Knowledge of Resque or Sidekiq is preferred.
• Candidates should reside within the EST or CST time zones in the United States.
