Senior Software Engineer – Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage CI/CD pipelines utilized by all engineering teams.

• Create and sustain observability and monitoring tools for debugging in production.

• Develop local development environment tools that mimic production conditions.

• Identify and address infrastructure issues at their source.

• Troubleshoot complex problems involving CI/CD, observability tools, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.

• Contribute to the platform's roadmap and backlog.

• Establish and maintain a streamlined process for Cast AI engineers to deploy and manage services.

• Assist internal engineering teams through platform tools that support hundreds of engineers and multiple services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including clean abstractions, maintainable code, and architectural rationale.

• Strong production experience with Go is preferred; candidates lacking Go experience should showcase robust systems programming skills in a similar language.

• Experience in building and managing platform engineering systems, including most CI/CD and GitOps systems, infrastructure as code, container orchestration, observability and monitoring tools, and cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows.

• Successfully led a complex project from inception to completion.

• Excellent debugging, optimization, and performance tuning abilities.

• Proficient in English, both verbal and written.

• Possess a startup mindset; adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with uncertainty.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations for teams that necessitate it.

• Preferred qualifications: Experience with Kubernetes operators, Helm chart creation, and admission webhooks.

• Preferred qualifications: Experience in designing internal developer platforms, including golden paths, self-service tools, and service catalogs.

• Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with local development environment tools such as devcontainers, Tilt, or Skaffold.

• Preferred qualifications: Contributions to Kubernetes or cloud-native open-source software.
