
Senior Software Engineer – Java/Spring Boot, Monolith Systems Development and Modernization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee and coordinate application development and client delivery processes.
• Create, develop, and test software to ensure scalability, reliability, and data recovery on a high-volume, high-availability platform.
• Contribute to a sophisticated monolithic application that facilitates payment processing and value-added services for merchants.
• Design, develop, and sustain scalable microservices while updating platforms.
• Work in collaboration with Product, Platform, Merchant Services, and Support teams to transform business requirements into technical solutions.
• Employ Agile methodologies, including pair programming and test-driven development.
• Implement new features in production without causing platform downtime or affecting customer transaction processing.
• Acquire domain expertise in e-commerce payments and innovate new product features.
• This role does not qualify for visa sponsorship, either now or in the future.
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education, training, or work experience.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Java Software Engineering, excluding internships.
• Outstanding design, SQL, and Java programming abilities.
• Capability to understand high-level business objectives, extract requirements, and convert them into technical solutions.
• Flexibility to adjust context and priorities in response to shifting business needs.
• Expertise in SQL, relational data modeling, and database schema design.
• Willingness to engage in pair programming is essential.
• Experience with Microservices architecture, globally distributed services, and 24/7 support is advantageous.
• Familiarity with RESTful API design, Kubernetes, and Kafka is a plus.
• Background in monitoring and creating responsive, self-healing resilient immutable platforms is preferred.
• Knowledge of scalability strategies in high-volume, low-latency transactional systems is a bonus.
• Experience with AWS and OpenShift Platform is an advantage.
• Familiarity with tools such as Ansible, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Harness, Snyk, SonarQ, Cucumber, and Karate is a bonus.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk, Sysdig, OpsGenie, Open Telemetry, Instaclustr, Prometheus, JBehave, JGiven, Xmatters, and ServiceNow is a bonus.
• Development experience with a unit testing framework, like JUnit, is advantageous; TDD experience is preferred.
• Prior experience with pair programming is a plus.
