Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Create reusable, production-ready code and participate in technical design and architectural decisions.

• Design and develop secure RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Implement best practices for authentication, authorization, and API security.

• Design efficient PostgreSQL schemas and data-access solutions.

• Write and optimize complex SQL queries and work with JPA/Hibernate.

• Deploy, manage, and scale cloud-native applications on Azure.

• Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployment and orchestration.

• Apply principles of distributed systems, multithreading, concurrency, caching, resilience, retry mechanisms, and fault tolerance.

• Develop unit and integration tests using tools like JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, or similar frameworks.

• Engage in code reviews.

• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and engineers to deliver features and services.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to elevate engineering standards.

• Diagnose production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.

• Enhance performance, scalability, observability, security, development processes, and code quality.

• Stay updated with relevant technologies and assess improvements to the engineering ecosystem.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 5-8+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and backend engineering.

• Significant experience in designing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed applications.

• Knowledge of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.

• 3+ years of practical experience with complex SQL queries, subqueries, joins, set operations, aggregate functions, schema design, and query optimization.

• Strong experience with RDBMS and PostgreSQL.

• Hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate, Git, Maven or Gradle, JUnit, and Mockito.

• Familiarity with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and performance-tuning capabilities.

• Understanding of secure backend development practices.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

• Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.

• Ability to take ownership, manage shifting priorities, and excel in a fast-paced product engineering environment.

• Experience in building high-volume, highly available SaaS or enterprise platforms.

• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, observability tools, and DevOps methodologies.

• Familiarity with performance testing, infrastructure as code, Domain-Driven Design, Angular, or React.
