Senior Software Engineer, iCasino

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries that drive the casino lobby, game launch, and real-money wagering processes.

• Take ownership of complex technical challenges; create proposals and present them to leadership and collaborating teams.

• Architect, design, and implement new features and game provider integrations from start to finish in an agile/scrum framework.

• Identify production bottlenecks and risks, implementing changes to enhance platform scalability.

• Establish and refine DataDog monitoring and alerting systems for the platforms you manage.

• Provide mentorship to engineers through specifications, collaborative coding, and code reviews.

• Execute additional responsibilities as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in developing applications using Elixir is essential.

• Over 2 years of experience in designing and evolving GraphQL schemas.

• Strong grounding in computer science, encompassing data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design principles.

• Experience with production-level systems at scale, including load testing and tracing.

• Proficient in identifying and resolving CPU hotspots and latency issues in high-throughput services.

• Familiarity with on-call rotations and managing release cycles from start to finish.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of creating technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documentation.

• In-depth knowledge of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.

• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.

• Proficient with terminal tools, Git, and GitHub or similar platforms.

• Familiar with testing frameworks like ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or their equivalents.

• Experience with background job processing tools such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.

• Knowledge of asynchronous event handling infrastructures like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.

• Preferred: experience in iCasino, sports betting, regulated real-money sectors, game provider and wallet integrations, hexagonal architecture, Domain Driven Development, open-source contributions, startup experience, or a passion for casino gaming, sports, and/or esports.
