This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Design, develop, and implement high-quality features within frontend or backend systems in a cloud-native microservice architecture.
β’ Take ownership and manage a specific area of the codebase.
β’ Uphold engineering quality standards through peer code reviews, compliance with SonarQube quality gates, and the in-sprint resolution of security issues.
β’ Create and utilize RESTful APIs that adhere to versioned OpenAPI specifications.
β’ Engage in backend data integration logic utilizing PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch or develop user-facing features with Angular, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript.
β’ Facilitate technical design discussions and document Architecture Decision Records.
β’ Present system diagrams and design documents to engineers, product owners, and federal stakeholders.
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve production issues within owned systems to enhance system resilience.
β’ Guide junior and mid-level engineers through code review feedback and offer technical mentorship.
β’ Contribute to the maintenance of CI/CD pipeline hygiene, Terraform infrastructure-as-code standards, and GitLab pipeline optimization.
β’ Participate in technical interviews and assess candidates.
β’ May lead smaller, less critical, or temporary teams and projects.
β’ Assist with scope, schedule, and delivery requirements while requiring minimal oversight.
β’ Contribute to the strategic development and long-term objectives of the program.
β’ 7+ years of pertinent engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
β’ Must comply with federal suitability standards and successfully pass a background investigation as a prerequisite for employment.
β’ Advanced proficiency in either frontend engineering (Angular, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) or backend engineering (Python, Java, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch).
β’ Strong understanding of containerized microservices and AWS services (ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch).
β’ Experience in building and utilizing versioned RESTful APIs with published OpenAPI specifications.
β’ Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and version control using Git.
β’ Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and their implementation in frontend or backend development.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including federal agency stakeholders.
β’ Previous experience with digital services in federal agencies or in government contracting environments.
β’ Proficient in infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform.
β’ Knowledge of event-driven architectures utilizing AWS SNS/SQS and Lambda/Step Functions.
β’ Experience with consumer-driven contract testing using Pact or API contract governance among microservices.
β’ Exposure to SAFe or scaled Agile delivery frameworks, including PI planning and ART coordination.
β’ Familiar with third-party integrations such as Pay.gov, login.gov, or identity/authentication platforms.
β’ Experience mentoring engineers in a cross-functional federal delivery setting.
