Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure – SRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop dependable and sustainable applications, infrastructure, and interfaces that enhance user interaction with the healthcare system.

• Become the authority on the team's business and technical areas, encompassing DevOps, site reliability, and cloud best practices.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of intricate technical projects spanning multiple teams.

• Work collaboratively with partners, product managers, and designers to address complex challenges.

• Mentor and guide engineers to enhance technology and implement best practices.

• Take ownership of significant or intricate technology capabilities across one or more domains.

• Facilitate collaboration and execution across teams while mitigating project risks.

• Contribute to projects at both the functional group and organization-wide levels.

• Lead the prioritization of the technical roadmap and influence product roadmap and process enhancements.

• Identify and minimize failure domains while developing resilient systems.

• Create software that reduces maintenance effort and mitigates business impact during failures.

• Direct the development of Service-Level Objectives for the systems under your ownership.

• Manage medium to large features or infrastructure projects from technical design to completion.

• Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Experience with various technologies and a track record of increasingly significant achievements.

• Proven track record as a key contributor to cross-pod or cross-company deliverables.

• Experience in leading technical contributions and enhancing the quality of the team's output.

• Experience in developing fault-tolerant and scalable software systems.

• Expertise in the practical application of computer science principles.

• Ability to produce stable, correct, and maintainable code.

• Experience in mentoring and training junior engineers.

• Extensive experience managing production environments within AWS or GCP at scale.

• Advanced proficiency with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Proven experience with Kubernetes and ArgoCD workflows.

• Strong foundation in Site Reliability Engineering, including SLOs, error budgets, and incident management.

• Experience in building deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.

• Knowledge of cloud-native security, IAM, VPC peering, and service mesh technologies, including Istio.

• Proficient in at least one programming language.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent high-level industry experience.
