Senior Software Engineer, Card Solutions – Backend-Focused, NodeJS/TypeScript

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend services for processing card transactions, detecting fraud, and managing card programs.

• Contribute to the system architecture and make technical decisions with an emphasis on performance, fault tolerance, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with stakeholders from Product, Risk, Finance, and Compliance to deliver robust and compliant financial systems.

• Write clean, observable, and thoroughly tested code within a service-oriented architecture.

• Engage in code reviews, incident response, and ongoing improvements to system reliability.

• Advance engineering practices, tools, and system designs as Reap grows.

• Work on services that support card transactions, fraud detection, card lifecycle management, and developer-facing APIs.

• Author transaction workflows and implement scalable event-driven services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of software engineering experience, preferably in fintech, infrastructure, or platform teams.

• Proficient in building backend systems using a typed language (e.g., TypeScript, Java, Go, etc.).

• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including asynchronous processing, retries, observability, and eventual consistency.

• Excellent judgment in balancing correctness, performance, and maintainability.

• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and effectively communicate technical trade-offs.

• Comfortable navigating a fast-paced and evolving product landscape.

• Nice to have: experience with card networks, 3DS, PCI, tokenization, or chargeback systems.

• Nice to have: familiarity with compliance or regulatory constraints.

• Nice to have: knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and AWS.

• Nice to have: experience in high-growth startups or platforms that offer external APIs.
