Senior Software Engineer – Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Transform product concepts from inception to launch by defining, designing, developing, deploying, and managing them in production.

• Develop and sustain large-scale distributed systems for multi-cloud networking.

• Leverage agentic workflows, LLM-driven development cycles, and AI tools to enhance shipping and operational efficiency.

• Create, develop, and support APIs and microservices utilizing Java/Spring, Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.

• Manage deployed systems through customer escalations, on-call support, telemetry, and issue resolution.

• Acquire and oversee existing services within the designated area.

• Contribute to the development of Alkira’s programmable enterprise networking platform that connects clouds, sites, partners, data centers, and AI workloads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 4 to 7 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven experience in taking products from concept to launch and enhancing existing codebases.

• Regular use of AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot within an AI-centric development workflow.

• Strong foundation in computer science principles.

• Practical experience with Java/Spring and Go.

• Understanding of distributed systems.

• Experience in designing REST APIs.

• Proficiency in database schema design.

• Familiarity with multithreading.

• Fluency in Linux/kernel systems.

• Experience with containerization and Kubernetes deployment.

• Security-conscious mindset for distributed, multi-tenant systems.

• Empathy for product and customer needs.

• Capability to collaborate across geographically diverse teams.

• Strong multitasking abilities to manage multiple concurrent projects.

• Networking expertise in BGP, SD-WAN, overlays, or cloud networking is highly advantageous.
