Senior Software Engineer – Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Transform product concepts from inception to launch by scoping, designing, building, shipping, and managing them in production.

• Develop and sustain large-scale distributed systems for multi-cloud networking.

• Leverage agentic workflows, LLM-powered development loops, and AI tools to expedite shipping and operational processes.

• Design, create, and maintain APIs and microservices utilizing Java/Spring, Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.

• Manage deployed systems through customer escalations, on-call support, telemetry, and bug resolutions.

• Acquire and oversee existing services within the designated area.

• Assist in constructing Alkira’s programmable enterprise networking platform that connects clouds, sites, partners, data centers, and AI workloads.

⛳️ Requirements

• B.S./M.S. (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 4–7 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven track record of taking products from concept to delivery and enhancing existing codebases.

• Daily engagement with AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, employing an AI-driven development workflow.

• Solid foundation in computer science principles.

• Practical experience with Java/Spring and Go.

• Understanding of distributed systems.

• Experience in designing REST APIs.

• Proficiency in database schema design.

• Familiarity with multithreading.

• Fluency in Linux/kernel environments.

• Experience with containerization and Kubernetes deployment.

• Security-conscious mindset for distributed, multi-tenant architectures.

• Empathy for product and customer needs.

• Capability to collaborate across geographically dispersed teams.

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and support various concurrent projects.

• A networking background in BGP, SD-WAN, overlays, or cloud networking is a significant advantage.
