• Take full ownership of significant features and services within the team's domain, designing them using established patterns for iterative, autonomous development and future scalability.
• Implement bounded contexts to minimize cross-service dependencies, ensuring that failures remain contained.
• Deliver production-ready, self-documenting code while establishing standards for AI-assisted development.
• Utilize Test-Driven Development (TDD) and mocks as necessary, refactor for testability, and guarantee that tested code is merged into the main branch.
• Troubleshoot issues within services and across service boundaries, enhance monitoring, and leverage operational and business metrics for stability and performance.
• Actively engage in the team's on-call duties.
• Identify vulnerabilities, apply secure defaults regarding authentication, input validation, and data management, and design systems to prevent abuse.
• Communicate any blockers, delays, and cost overruns promptly; resolve dependencies and foster continuous improvements.
• Mentor team members, build support redundancy, and maintain runbooks and Architectural Decision Records (ADRs).
• 5–8 years of experience in building production software, with extensive ownership of services in a live, revenue-generating system.
• Strong expertise in at least one of DZ's technology stacks (TypeScript, Go, C#), along with solid knowledge of Postgres and AWS, and an eagerness to become proficient in others.
• Profound understanding of a domain you have worked in for an extended period: awareness of the services, their interactions, and the data flow between them, not just the components you developed.
• A default security and abuse perspective: solid grasp of OWASP principles, appropriate handling of secrets and sensitive information, and awareness of payment-surface threats like card testing and credential management.
• The ability to evaluate cost versus value, including recognizing where AI can genuinely save time compared to situations where it might introduce later risks.
• Effective communication skills that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences, a tendency to seek feedback as much as provide it, and comfort with open, respectful disagreements.
• Immediate opportunity to make a large-scale impact on a high-growth business.
• Competitive compensation packages that are among the best in the market.
• Collaborate with top regional talent, including team members from Talabat, Careem, Etisalat, and others.
