Senior Software Engineer – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +43 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop software that drives clinical care delivery at Oak Street Health, encompassing patient scheduling, care coordination, clinical records, and health-network integrations.

• Create robust system prompts utilizing LLM frameworks.

• Collaborate with product teams and business stakeholders to comprehend and automate workflows.

• Design and execute efficient file-ingestion pipelines with Databricks.

• Take full ownership of a domain or service area from start to finish, including its data model and integration agreements.

• Conduct code reviews, establish technical standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

• Ensure the team is accountable for test coverage, observability, and the production health of the services they own.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in building distributed backend systems in a production environment.

• Expertise in creating system prompts and leveraging AI frameworks.

• Practical experience with MongoDB or similar document databases.

• Proven history of leading technical initiatives within a team.

• Familiarity with cloud-native deployment on platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Experience in constructing ETL/ELT workflows using Databricks is preferred.

• Strong understanding of domain-driven design and bounded context modeling is preferred.

• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (such as FHIR, HL7) or EMR integrations is preferred.

• Experience in designing high-throughput, low-latency services at scale is preferred.

• Familiarity with event sourcing, CQRS, or other sophisticated event-driven patterns is preferred.

• A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with specialized training or relevant professional qualifications.
