Chief Technical Architect, Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Define, articulate, and lead the 3–5 year technology strategy and architectural roadmap.

• Collaborate closely with the CTO and product leadership team.

• Design multi-tenant, multi-region platform services with well-defined service boundaries.

• Establish guidelines for reliability, performance, security, and cost management.

• Transform teams from product silos to shared, reusable platform capabilities.

• Oversee the architecture of the GenAI and agentic platform, encompassing LLM orchestration, RAG pipelines, vector search, evaluation, observability, and model governance.

• Direct the architecture of data foundations, including streaming, lakehouse, and analytics.

• Create and manage architecture review forums, design standards, and prioritize technical debt.

• Identify and mitigate systemic technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and cross-team architectural conflicts.

• Lead technology evaluations, proofs of concept, and commercial assessments in cloud, data, AI tooling, and observability.

• Make informed build-versus-buy and vendor decisions utilizing TCO and unit-economics analysis.

• Transform nascent ideas into clear, actionable designs.

• Mentor principal engineers and emerging architects.

• Develop the architecture leadership pipeline.

• Collaborate with Product VPs, QA, DevOps/SRE, and engineering leadership to ensure alignment.

• Communicate intricate technical trade-offs to executives, customers, and partners to build consensus.

• Act as the recognized senior technical expert throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Minimum of 5 years in an architect or principal-level position.

• Experience within a product company, preferably in a SaaS environment.

• Responsible for architecture across multiple teams or platform areas.

• Influenced the work of more than 50 engineers.

• Extensive knowledge of cloud-native systems, distributed computing, microservices, event-driven architectures, and modern data architectures.

• Practical experience designing production-level GenAI or agentic systems, including LLM orchestration, RAG, vector databases, evaluation pipelines, and AI observability.

• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, OOP, and contemporary engineering practices.

• Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala, Go, or Node.js.

• Recent involvement in hands-on design and code reviews.

• Proven capability to establish governance for quality, performance, resilience, security, and data privacy at an enterprise scale.

• Demonstrated history of measurable impact such as scale, uptime, latency, cost reduction, or speed of delivery improvements.

• Candidates must be willing to be located in Pune.

• Experience with platform consolidation, cloud migration, or transitioning from monolith to platform is highly advantageous.

• Background in ERP, supply chain, or manufacturing software is preferred.

• Patents, publications, conference presentations, or other forms of external technical recognition are desirable.
